First I should (once again) apologize.
Because it’s been a long while since I’ve written a substantive piece for this Substack.
(I’ve been working on a blog about the deaconess discourse which has gripped the Church in recent months, as well as a followup piece about internet “Orthodoxy.” But I’m way behind schedule.)
Why?
Well, a big reason is because FOCUS North America is in a really exciting season of growth.
Last year, we started two new FOCUS Centers: a pregnancy and family support ministry in Houston, and a feeding ministry in Cincinnati.
(I’m actually writing this during a short break in Houston, where our Advisory Board and volunteers have assembled for a training on trauma-informed approaches to ministry.)
And this year, we’re developing five new FOCUS Centers by God’s grace!
(You may have seen the announcements I posted about Phoenix and Philadelphia, where Center development is already underway.)
But that’s all just a bit of context…
Because right now, I want to tell you about two exciting opportunities to join our team at FOCUS and help make the Kingdom manifest to our neighbors in need.
We’re looking for Center Directors in two places: Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN and Orange County, CA.
If you live in those areas and want to lead a local organization that feeds the hungry, clothes the naked, etc (you know, the stuff the Lord commands us to do) then I highly encourage you to click on the job descriptions and apply.
And if you don’t feel called to this work, I hope you’ll share the job descriptions with friends and family who might be right for the positions.
I’ve been with FOCUS for just shy of fourteen months and it’s been an absolute joy. It’s a great organization where wonderful, good-hearted people gather to serve with simplicity and love. It’s a place where the Kingdom of God is truly made manifest in ways both great and small.
I can go on and on about how much I love this job, but our training here in Houston is about to start up again…
If you have any questions about these positions, please feel free to send me an email at schristoforou@focusna.org.
I hope you’ll consider joining our team!
Congratulations Steve + a blessed new year 2024 closer to our Theosis!
Pray Elder Ephraim is soon canonized…
I remember St. Porphyrios saying he was jealous of Monk Ephraim bc he could see in his amazing clairvoyance what great work Elder Ephraim would do in America
